Message from our Group Scout Leader

Welcome to our new 7th Epping Forest Scout Group Website.

The 7th Epping Forest Scout Group consists of four group sections. We are part of the Royal Forest Scout District and have been based at St Edmund’s Church since 1953.
All our Group Section Leaders and helpers are volunteers who give up their free time to plan and carry out the weekly term time meetings as well as organise and run residential camps throughout the year. In the true spirit of Scouting we try to arrange many outdoor based activities and camps annually to enable our children to experience different adventures that they might not otherwise have the opportunity to undertake.
In addition to our four group sections, we have an excellent Parents’ Committee. They host several events throughout the year to raise much needed funds for our Scout Group giving our children, with their families and friends the opportunity to socially engage.

Feedback from research independently commissioned by the Scout Association has proved the benefits of being involved in Scouting and how this can help your children develop skills for life. Statistics show that Scouts are 32% more likely to be physically active than young people who don’t take part in Scouting. Scouts are 17% more likely to demonstrate leadership skills. Scouts are 11% more likely to be better problem solvers. Scouts are 19% more likely to show emotional intelligence. Scouts are 17% more likely to be able to work well in teams.
If you would like to join our fabulous volunteer team to help deliver unique experiences and everyday adventures to help to strengthen our community or if you have a business or skill that could assist us, we would love to hear from you. Please speak to your Group Section Leader.

A visit to the Scouts website, www.scouts.org.uk, is a fantastic place to discover lots of information about the Scouting movement. There you will find regular news, updates and blogs from Bear Grylls, our Chief Scout. Select the tab ‘What We Do’ and you will find a dedicated section for Parents and Carers. Here it details our badges and awards, with a handy diagram for badge positions on the uniforms!. In addition to your child/ren working towards and earning badges at their weekly meeting there are lots of badges that can be earned at home, through hobbies or regular sporting events.
